The hurry up and waiting of a
Rock n’ Roll life can often be the catalyst
for a good story.
Clumsy was the brainchild of the boredom and bottled up energy of four
musician friends,
from three separate bands, in one Hollywood apartment.
The NOOdS, (we had a
bunch of
SPOON stickers turned upside down and Britt kept the stickers coming)
Marc,
(that’s me)
Robert (Perfect) Mike (GooGooDolls) and Jeff (The Customers) wrote some
tunes played
some gigs, and eventually turned into a band. Mike, being methodical,
decided the name
must change and through an odd process combining a “list of favorites” with
some actuary
science we came up with Clumsy.
(Good name huh?) It was about this time the GooGooDolls
took off, Jeff’s advertising career blossomed, Perfect died and Robert returned to
Dallas,
so I went to NYC for a year. There I resuscitated Clumsy by recording demos
with
my childhood friend Aaron Comess
(Spin Doctors).
I joined up with Robert in Dallas (our hometown), along with
Michael Brien
(The Clowns) and
Nate Fowler (American Fuse) where we signed up with Idol Records. The next
three years
would see one rocking CD Center of Attention Deficit Disorder and several
line up changes
-On guitar, Nate for Corey,
(The Burden Brothers). On Drums, Michael was
replaced by David Mabry
(formerly of Pleasant Grove). On bass, oh the bass…
Robert Cooper for
Kinley Wolfe
(American Fuse,
The Cult) who was replaced by Kevin (we are not sure who this guy is!) who
filled in for Robert
who begot Joseph Nedwed (Chinese Stars) who toured for Robert. Thank God
for good,
steady Corey Rozzoni! Clumsy played our last show on November 16, 2002.
